When most people think of stew meat, they picture slow cookers and winter comfort food—but we’re flipping the script. These Stew Meat Kabobs are a simple, delicious way to turn an affordable cut into a summer-ready meal that’s perfect for grilling season.
Whether you’re cooking for family dinner or hosting a backyard get-together, these kabobs bring big flavor without a lot of fuss.
Ingredients
- 1–2 lbs Lazy 3x Ranch stew meat
- 1/4 cup olive oil
- 3 tbsp soy sauce
- 2 tbsp Worcestershire sauce
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 tbsp brown sugar
- 1 tsp black pepper
- 1 tsp onion powder
- 1/2 tsp smoked paprika (optional)
For the kabobs:
- Bell peppers (any color), chopped
- Red onion, chunked
- Mushrooms
- Zucchini or squash (optional)
Instructions
1. Marinate the Meat
In a bowl or zip-top bag, mix together olive oil, soy sauce, Worcestershire, garlic, brown sugar, and seasonings. Add stew meat and toss to coat.
Let marinate for at least 2–4 hours, or overnight for best flavor.
2. Prep the Skewers
If using wooden skewers, soak them in water for 30 minutes.
Thread the marinated stew meat onto skewers, alternating with veggies.
3. Grill Time
Preheat grill to medium-high heat.
Grill kabobs for 8–12 minutes, turning occasionally, until meat is cooked to your preferred doneness.
4. Rest & Serve
Let rest for a few minutes, then serve hot.
Tips for Success
- Don’t overcrowd the skewers—give everything space to cook evenly
- Cut veggies to similar sizes so they cook at the same rate
- Want extra tenderness? Add a splash of vinegar or lemon juice to the marinade
- These also cook great on a Blackstone or cast iron skillet
